Space to slow down, listen to, and honour your body

In a Somatic Experiencing (SE) session with Jem, we work gently with your body to address stored trauma and chronic stress. Using awareness of your internal bodily sensations and nervous system regulation, each session offers a guided inquiry, inviting a safe reconnection with your body’s resilience and capacity for healing. This process encourages release, grounded presence, and a renewed sense of aliveness.

Stress, Trauma and Somatic Experiencing

In today’s world, stress can easily accumulate, often without the support or safety to allow our bodies to recover fully. This can lead to trauma (stored survival stress) or chronic stress, and ongoing patterns of fight, flight, freeze, fawn or appease responses replaying repeatedly. Nervous system dysregulation can result, impacting any of the body’s systems as the body attempts to balance the accumulated stress in the body. This can also take away our capacity to respond to the present moment with choice and flexibility creating a sense of disconnection within your day-to-day life.

After identifying areas of chronic stress or stored trauma, Somatic Experiencing (SE) supports your reconnection with your body’s natural rhythms and responses, gradually releasing stress, renegotiating traumatic events and re-establishing nervous system balance. SE sessions guide an inquiry through gentle practices that aim to increase awareness of bodily sensations and address where trauma may be held in the body. This process unfolds at a safe pace, often through observing subtle shifts, sensations, or impulses that arise.

As you learn to connect with and respond to these sensations, SE supports the completion of protective responses that were interrupted by past trauma, allowing stored survival energy to release safely. Over time, this helps restore your body’s natural resilience and flexibility, offering the possibility to feel more grounded, connected and responsive in everyday life.
